Polished solid heavy 4 gauge copper formed and finished with squared domed ends. Four pieces designed to make a slightly tapered stack. Openings are about 1" as shown, must be stretched to place on neck then re-formed to size.
Inside circumference varies to allow nesting when worn 13 1/4" (337 mm) to 14" (366 mm) Ends may be left open or overlapped slightly
Slightly tapered form with flared edges a thick section of white PVC takes on the heft and texture of ancient bone. Hand carved and finished this contemporary design look like it might have been made long ago.
A hairline seam defines this as a split cuff but the appearance is like a bangle with no ends.
A full 2" wide the hand crafted process creates a pleasant tapered shape measuring 6 3/4" (172 mm) to 7" (178 mm)
substantial weight similar to natural density of bone without the need for animal products.

The second example is a six color mix orange, yellow, red, teal and ecru (white). The layout of this knot requires multiple segments of cord and a lot of waste as the tails of each segment are lost when the knot is worked up to final form.
design is a 24 part double pass herringbone about 7" (178 mm) inside circumference
The colorful vertical orientation (I think the light is better somehow…)
Part of the ongoing exploration of primitive handmade forms these petroglyph bangles are shaped inspired by the simple bold expressions found in rock pictures. The material is a thoroughly modern PVC plastic that has been heat formed and carved to create these irregular shapes.
The non flat shape of the plastic combined with free form design suggests an organic origin, here a group of the bangles is stacked on a bracelet stand.
This animation shows the formation of a custom made neckpiece made out of hand dyed cotton and a pair of polymer clay buttons. This was a project that started out with the customer considering the metal neck coils worn by members of traditional cultures and evolved into this realization in cotton fiber.
A higher res image of the finished coil.
14" circumference (average)
3 1/2" height
Here's an alternate design of three discrete pieces
The small void carved into the rim of the bracelet represents the shadow of the earth's penumbria on the moon that can bee seen during an eclipse.
One of the series of bone bangles which might be re-titled "moon bangles" this small oval shaped bangle is perfect for people who have smaller hands. These bracelets won't slip off the way larger bangles tend to do. These special designs are thin and lightweight but extremely strong.
