A colorful matrix of handmade paper beads and small faceted plastic beads together in a framework of hand-twistd cotton rope.

The paper beads are slightly bulkier so they form a pair of subtle ridges. The plastic beads have flat triangular faces which creates sparkle reflections.


Three plastic buttons and integral loops are an easy and secure closure.

This bracelet was made on a cylindrical mold so the shape is naturally curved from the center to the thinner edges.

Waxed nylon thread binds everything together.

three button beaded cuff 3679

This three button cuff is a larger version of the small child's beaded bracelet in the previous post. This one is made larger and with three buttons and loops to allow for easy application and removal.

The design similar to the smaller bracelet with a mix of glass and paper beads strung between rows of handmade cotton rope.

The difference is that the rope is laid out to form the loops instead of a continuous spiral pattern.

 Extra wide tapered pvc cuff is a piece of arm-more... The open back design is easy to slip on over the hand and the tapered shape fits comfortably on the forearm. A dot line pattern is etched on the outside, the interior is smooth.

The interlocking tabs are equal proportions with two brass pins placed in precision drilled holes. Material is CPVC which is a lightweight form of thermoplastic with a foam core and hard surface skin.

Simple geometric circular form of white thermoplastic (PVC) with interlocking pinned connections. Connections are secured with brass pins friction fit in precision drilled holes. The finish is a smooth matte with small irregularities

dip dyed extra wide cuff 3535

  An explosion of color comes to life with this extra wide cuff. The knot design is a long turks head made with 21 parts and 10 bights on a mold. The double pass (2 strand) creates the requested 3" width.

The colors were dip-dyed in a progressive process starting with the darker turquoise blue, the the lime green and ending with celosia orange.

  In this view you can see the elongated proportions. The size requested was only 7 1/2" so the weave is open and flexible to allow this cuff to settle comfortably on the forearm.

Each color required time to dry followed by treatment with a mordant to reduce the color bleeding

single button cuff grey, red, blue with wood beads 3402

 One button cuff made with grey cotton framing cord and a row of dark wood beads was made for a customer who wanted a smaller size bracelet made to her color specifications.

The wood beads are 3 mm diameter and are stitched into the bracelet with the compression edge stitching technique.

 The button engages the loop made by the framing cords and can be easily undone with one hand. The interior cords form a soft edge that holds the button in place securely when closed.

Dark blue cotton cords emphasize the dark wood beads.

Four colors made from soft laid twisted cord put together with a combination of double over-under and single over-under weave pattern on a 10 loop weft layout.

 The soft laid twisted cord starts out a light grey color accepting dye and creating a pastel effect.

 Made on an 8 5/8" mold and worked up to a 6 7/8" (175 mm) inside circumference.

purple blue grey basket weave rope bangle bracelet 3219

 Colorful purple teal blue and two blue-gray mixes are combined in this soft slip on bangle style cuff. Single over-under weave pattern with 9 loops.

 Tightly drawn up to completely hide the weft cord the resulting pattern has a zig-zag look to it.

Made on an 8 5/8" mold this came out smaller at 6 7/8" (175 mm) inside circumference

green and grey basket weave rope cuff bracelet 3210

The warp cords used in this design are made from  a loosely laid up twisted cotton cord (hardware store variety) combined with a braided cover cord. The colors are a two shades of pastel green and teal combined with a light grey.

The weft cords are tightened compressing the warp cords together and closing the gaps so the weft cords almost disappear. The softer warp cords expand to fill the gaps.

 This is a plain weave (single over-under pattern) with only 11 loops (21 crossings)

Made on a 9" mold this cuff is a relaxed 8" (206 mm) inside circumference

red white black basket weave rope cuff bracelet 3207

 Nice high contrast bold colored cotton cord assembled in a simple plain weave pattern over a black polyester weft cord.

The red and white cotton cord is a 3 mm soft braided cover cord. The edges have three-pass white cable cord which being slightly smaller diameter creates a tapering effect.

 The weave is slightly stretchable from the 7 7/8" (200 mm) inside circumference size. Loose ends are buried inside the weave and tied off with nylon thread.

basket weave rope cuff desert tan and ecru double weave 3202

 All cotton materials warp cords are hand dyed a light desert tan and interwoven with natural ecru white cord.

This design has 20 loops creating a 39 crossing count per circumference (there is an offset of one to keep the weave going) Each warp cord follows an over-two under-two pattern. Only two of the three crossing patterns are populated with cord.

 You can see the characteristic spiral pattern on the inside of this view. The two colors are very close so the effect is less pronounced. The un-populated crossing pattern reveals the weft cord.

Made on  10 1/2" mold this slip on cuff has been worked up to a smaller 8" (203 mm) inside circumference

 More basket weave series cuffs, this one is a double weave three color design. All cotton hand dyed cord worked over a braided cotton core.

Warm colors: scarlet, orange, brown

 The spiral offset pattern has been compacted along the core cords so there are no gaps.
