men's wide ankle bracelet blue black beaded design strata series

Handmade ankle bracelet Design Strata for men. This example is made from mixed fiber blue, green, white and black cords with both blue and black glass beads. Some edge wrapping with blue cotton floss finishes off this casual anklet.

This piece measures about 9 1/4" (235 mm) inside circumference which is comfortable fit.
Anklet is secured with two loops and small plastic buttons for easy removal. Water tolerant materials can be immersed without harm.

Cords are laid out on a circular mold and edge bound together using four ply waxed nylon thread. Average width is about 2" (51 mm)

one button bracelet with paper beads 2667

Another of the very simple one button bracelet designs made with cotton cord. The variation on this one is the use of handmade paper beads in the center. You can see the distinctive layered pattern in the close up photos.

Read the tutorial showing how to make the one-button pattern here.

The paper beads are used the same way that glass or ceramic or wood beads might be used. The difference is that each bead is actually unique.
The subtle variations in color and size give this bracelet a more variegated vibe. The bead colors tend towards gray with little bits of color here and there.

Those of you familiar with the making of paper beads know that it's a wet process using strips of paper and an acrylic glue-sealant material. The beads are made, let dry, re-coated several times and finally are ready for use.

This group was made in my studio using white glue as the adhesive and later coated with acrylic.
Here's a good look at some of the texture created by the laminating process.

The beads are much lighter weight than glass but work into the weave in much the same way.

extra wide beaded cotton cuff 2628

All cotton extra wide beaded cuff assembled from braided cord, cable cord and lots of glass beads. The assembly process for this design involves making the two fabric sides separately and later joining them together with the big beads in the center seam.

The bigger beads are a variety of colors and shapes recalling a beach full of smooth stones. The small beads are like bubbles in the fabric.
There are only two small buttons and loops which leaves plenty of space for a little "coastline" of beads along the ends. These are stitched on after the big pieces of the bracelet have been put together.

The tensioned nylon binding thread holds the shape of this cuff and gives it some flexibility.

This one is 3 1/4" (83 mm) wide but only 1 1/8" (183 mm) inside circumference giving it a nice long proportion.

                    Available here.

red and grey beaded primitive tribal cuff bracelet 2483

Highly textured cotton cords bound tightly together with rows of seed beads forms this contemporary interpretation of tribal style. The framing cord is hand dyed a medium cool grey which offsets the red center cords and the red beads sewn in around the edges. Dark blue and black accents highlight the reds for a bit of contrast.

The cotton materials are soft and comfortable. Size is a "medium" about 7 1/2" (191 mm) inside circumference when closed.
A pair of loops and buttons makes a secure but easy to manage closure system. The bracelet is made from up cycled segments of hand dyed cotton cord that are arranged on a mold then sewn together with four ply nylon thread. Glass beads are worked into the edges in the seams.

The nylon thread stretches during the construction and holds tension on the fabric so the bracelet has as semi-rigid form and inherent shape.

This piece will be offered in an upcoming boutique sale. Check Finch's Holiday Time Boutique for details, place and time or visit the fiber art section of my Etsy shop to see some other designs similar to this one.

soft cotton beaded cuff rope bracelet 2480

I find I'm having a bit more time after a big rush of orders to make another of these unique cuffs. This one is made with super soft almost plush cotton piping cord along with some of the hand dyed cord scraps lurking in the bottom of the scrap bin. Reduce, reuse, recycle...rinse repeat.

The outside edges are rimmed with a blue and green mix of glass seed beads that are worked into the seams of the cotton piping cord.
Two large off white plastic buttons and loops make this secure and are easy to manipulate. The bracelet opens up at the loops and is a 7 1/2" (191 mm) inside circumference when closed.

The look is BIG but the materials are feather light and very soft to the touch. A bit of the tribal style made in new materials. This cuff is 1 7/8" (46 mm) wide and will really stand out.
This piece will be offered in an upcoming boutique sale. Check Finch's Holiday Time Boutique for details, place and time or visit the fiber art section of my Etsy shop to see some other designs similar to this one.

Blue rope GEOmetry bangle 1449

A wedge section rope bangle bracelet made with very soft blue nylon cord. The white flecks are the four ply waxed nylon binding thread.

This bangle is made in five layers from a single piece of braided cord. Each layer is bound together horizontally then vertically with the nylon thread.

The nylon cord is very soft and low density so this bangle is flexible although it holds it's shape. The stitching creates slight distortions in the circular shape.

See other GEOmetry series rope bracelets here.

Size is medium about 8" (203 mm) inside circumference.

This is very similar to the white rope GEOmetry bangle 1640.

When the cord fabric is stable the cuff is removed from the mold and the beads are worked into the seams.
