cotton turks head bracelet 12 x 5 x 3

Here is a smaller 12 bight x 5 part x 3 strand bracelet made with the Darice 3 mm cord. This one has been worked up to a finished condition and measures 2" inside diameter roughly 6" inside circumference. The weave is about 1 1/8" wide.

This size would work well for a child or an adult with a smaller hand.

This design can also be left in a more relaxed condition which would enable placement over a larger hand.

The loose ends shown in the photos illustrate the fact that each of these bracelets is made with a single piece of cord (except the bracelets with a contrasting color center strand)

When the bracelet is first started the cord is in a slack condition so that the weave can be established. Later the excess slack is removed by progressively working around the knot to pull the slack loop through thus revealing the pattern of the weave.

I like your designs! Where do you find your cotton cord?

The cord used in this bracelet comes from JoAnn fabrics. This particular material is a 3 mm/32 ply cotton cord made by Darcie from Strongsville OH. It also comes in black and brown although those colors are made of polyester not cotton.

The cotton cord is also dyed to create the colors you see elsewhere on the site.

OK I think I might have created some confusion.
The cord is made by DARICE and can be found here:

I like the look of the twisted cotton cable cord. I can't find that cord in stores at all, and I can't find white anywhere. I guess you can dye it with white RIT or something?

The cable cord is available from hardware stores. My ACE Hardware carries the #72 twisted cotton multi-purpose twine. I also buy a higher quality product from a supplier on the east coast.

I also use RIT dye to create the color variations shown on the blog and in the Etsy shop. Both the twisted cable cord and the Darice cotton cord take the dye quite well.
