dip dyed extra wide cuff 3535

An explosion of color comes to life with this extra wide cuff. The knot design is a long turks head made with 21 parts and 10 bights on a mold. The double pass (2 strand) creates the requested 3" width.

The colors were dip-dyed in a progressive process starting with the darker turquoise blue, the the lime green and ending with celosia orange.
In this view you can see the elongated proportions. The size requested was only 7 1/2" so the weave is open and flexible to allow this cuff to settle comfortably on the forearm.

Each color required time to dry followed by treatment with a mordant to reduce the color bleeding
Custom work like this is available through the Etsy shop please visit to review the design possibilities then make your request.

These and other unique bracelets can be found online WhatKnotShop on ETSY

three part rope bracelets in club colors 3345

Here's a project recently completed for a sailing club that wanted some nautical souvenirs in the club colors.

The design is a narrower two strand version of the classic three part rope bracelet.

Custom hand-dyed cotton cord was used to create the club colors of blue and gold.

Custom sizing is available from extra-small for the  younger crew to large and extra large for the fore-deck monkeys and skippers.
Intense marine blue on one side...
Warm golden yellow on the other.

custom color cord for special projects

In addition to the natural white cotton cord which is popular there are many color combinations that produce attractive rope bracelets. Here's a collection of colors that were used to make a set of customized one-of-a-color bracelets.

On the left aquamarine & white; light green & teal; scarlet & purple; light taupe & rust; orange & brown.

The cotton cord is dyed in small batches using the RIT color system. The process is described in more detail here.

Custom colors are available for your projects including finished pieces or bulk cord orders.

I recommend these links that have instructions for making turks head knot bracelets.
Here's a range of greens and blue-greens, another popular color family.

Custom colors require a few days to create. Some of these colors are stocked but only in limited quantities. If you are interested in a custom color please leave a comment or send an Etsy convo with your question.

New colors from the dye baths

Working on new materials for upcoming product offerings. Here's a bundle of cords after they are boiled in the dye baths and rinsed out in cool water. Here you can see both the twisted cotton cable cord and the smooth cotton cord materials hanging up in the laundry room.

It takes about a day or two to dry out these cords in the low indoor humidity. Each color must be untangled after dying as the material bunches up when wet.

Bulk cord can be ordered from the Etsy shop
