heather grey one button cuff 4095

A narrower four strand wrapped design made with two grey colors and an oversize button.

The edges are single cord wrapped with two cored paired in the center which creates the wider rib.

The needle-weaving is simple over-under plain weave using the interstitial space as the crossover. The wrapping string is paired. The ends of the core cords are looped back under the center rib.
Here the four cords are visible as a pair of loops on the button.
Sized on a mold this design is 7" (178 mm) circumference.

more string weaving bracelets 4096 4097 4099

Three bracelets made by string weaving which is wrapping thinner cotton string over heavy stretched core in a fish-tale pattern.

On the left a navy and white banded pattern - the navy cords are unwound from a twisted piece of dyed cord which produces the variegated colors. (4097)

In the center a multiple color banded cuff using a combination of unwound dyed cords and dyed segments of ordinary cotton "butcher twine" commonly available in hardware stores. (4096)

On the right a bright yellow, orange, and pink banded cuff made mostly with the unwound dyed cords. (4099)
These cuffs are all secured with button and loop toggles.

They are laid out on a circular mold to establish the size. The buttons are positioned then the the whole thing is stretched on a small loom to complete the weaving process.

Segments of the colored cords are passed from side to side and packed together after each lateral pass. I'm sure there are more accurate technical terms to describe this process, weavers are invited to suggest references and terms in the comments section...

His 'n hers rope fabric cuff bracelets 3850

A pair of matched cuff bracelets made from hand dyed cord. The button and loop toggle is easy to manage and secure. The light olive and taupe tones recall the sun washed landscapes of deserts.

An illustrated tutorial explains how to make these bracelets using a variety of materials including paper beads and a non beaded designs using other colors . A wider more dramatic wood bead cuff uses the same basic techniques as does this playful lima bead bead design.
The large bracelet is 7 1/2" (191 mm)
The small bracelet is 6 1/2" (165 mm)

You might also enjoy this wood bead bracelet or this wider design using two rows of glass beads.
Edge stitching technique uses a high strength multi-filament thread to compress the individual cords into a soft lightweight fabric.

one button rope bracelet with paper beads 2765

The irregular color and texture of handmade paper beads is a nice pairing with the textured fabric created by compressing the hand dyed cotton cords in this small bracelet. These are smaller 6-8 mm mostly round (remember I did say irregular?) made from glossy catalog pages and coated with a waterproof sealant.

If you have never seen paper beads before read more about how to make them here. Many of you already know about the possibilities which are vast!
The button is a 1/2" (7 mm) brown plastic. The framing cords are a 9/16" cotton braid. Infill cords are hand dyed cotton in shades of slate blue, copper green and grey.

Read the illustrated tutorial showing the construction technique here.

Or check out this paper bead bracelet design.
Size for this piece is "small" only 7" (178 mm) soon to be available online.

Lima bean beaded one button cuff bracelet 2792

Here's another variation on polymer clay beads used in the one button bracelet designs. This one features smooth ribbed beads that resemble lima beans in shape. The holes are made in the base of the bead to enable edge stitching to secure the bead in place.

Here's another design made with these custom made beads you might like.

Read the tutorial explaining how to make the one button toggle bracelet here.
The button toggle is made out of the same material as the beads: light tan polymer clay baked for 15 minutes in the oven.

You can see the back side of the lima bean beads in the center of the cord fabric.

The framing cords are a dark pearl grey. The infill cords are an olive taupe cotton both hand dyed in my basement laundry room.

This playful design is about 7" (178 mm) inside diameter.
