traditional five part rope bracelet design - small size 1198

Made with a smaller diameter cord this is one of the most popular weave designs in the online venues. As you can see this bracelet is a smaller size (on advice from one of my favorite customers!) and will fit younger teens quite nicely. Color is natural white. Ends are secured by stitching just like all the items in my shops, and the size measures just 7" (178 mm) inside circumference.

WhatKnotShop shopping guide part two

Design - Two shops have different stock of these unique bracelets. Some have beadwork, some have toggle closures, some are small, some are large. Each one is handmade from cord, beads, & cotton floss, held together with four ply nylon thread. All are special

Fiber wrapped jewelry - An offshoot of the knot business that came about from a creative use of the leftover pieces of cord that are created when a knot bracelet is made. These are "up cycled" slip on bracelets and choker style necklaces made by wrapping deconstructed string and floss around core materials.

Beaded rope bracelets - Another offshoot of the knot tying work that has recently expanded into other experimental forms. Some bracelets incorporate beads in traditional turks head knot designs like the example shown on the left while other pieces are more about the beads.

Extra wide cuffs - These are the most dramatic wide slip on cuff bracelets available. Each one is a carefully made knot requiring many hours of work to lay out and then work up to the finished shape. This example is ready to slip on your wrist and tighten up to a comfortable custom fit.

ocean and sky rope bracelet 824

One of my favorite color combinations light blue and light turquoise green that combined recall the atmosphere of southern latitudes. These photos are a bit on the cool side so the green is not quite as bright as it is in sunlight. The blue cords are on the outside the green is in the center.

This is a nice medium 8" inside diameter that will stretch slightly. This design is also available in smaller sizes to fit teens and children as well as larger sizes to fit bigger hands.
Visit this blog page to take your measurements    figure the fit  then check the online shops to see what is available. Remember that custom sizes can be ordered at the regular prices. Just send a message with your size and color requirements.

tangled string bracelet in green and pink 930

A riot of pink, green, and other colors all tangled up with someplace to go. This is a special design for one of my awesome customers who liked the combination of lime green and fuchsia pink.

Little heart shaped bunny ears hold the purple plastic toggle beads in place.
A framework weave made of fuchsia cords sets the size at 7" inside circumference.

Double loops hold the toggle beads in place when closed.

This bracelet is very soft and flexible but is held together with four ply nylon thread so it is also durable.

Water will not harm this bracelet but might make it shrink somewhat.

blue to green herringbone rope bracelet collection

Traditional herringbone pattern weave design in five new colors.

Sizes are  "medium" measuring 8" (203 mm) inside circumference. As with all bracelets of this design there is some stretch owing to the double overlap weave pattern.

Solid color rope bracelets are available here if you don't see the design you like please make a request. Keeping all these in-stock not possible BUT they can be custom made just for you in a few days.
All are hand made of hand dyed cotton and cotton-polyester blend cords. The loose ends are stitched to prevent unraveling and then trimmed off. All will shrink somewhat when wet.

custom work for kids 816

Every now and then I receive a request for a custom piece for a younger person. I like making these for kids as it continues the tradition of having something cool and special that is yours alone.

This is a special request for someone who was passionate about purple but needed a smaller size than was offered in the online shop.

I had a bit of the purple cord remaining from the original dye batch which was long enough to make this 12 x 5 x 3 double diamond design.

So don't be shy about asking for a child sized version of work that is listed in the online shops. Most of the pieces offered can be made in smaller sizes that will fit younger kids as well as tweens.

Measure according to this guide then visit any one of these online shops to look over the selections, and contact me if you would like a special order made to fit a special child.

delicate designs made with small material

A herringbone weave design using 1.5 mm high density nylon cord.

This is a 34 bight design but due to the small diameter of the material it measures only 6 1/4" inside circumference, about the right size for a child or young teen.

This type of high tech nylon cord was found at an Eastern Mountain Sports EMS shop. Many outdoor gear suppliers offer these types of high grade nylon cords in all kinds of color combinations. This one happens to be a classic red/black mix

See this and a number of other unique patterns and color combinations at these three online venues:

ArtFire
Etsy
Zibbet

Here we see a typical three part common turks head weave using the 1.5 mm high density nylon cord. This one is a bit larger measuring 7" inside diameter and available here:

http://www.etsy.com/listing/54505250/child-size-red-and-black-nylon-knot

The flat or common weave is clearly visible in this view.

These smaller materials create a much smaller scale weave pattern which goes well with smaller hands or for those who like a more refined look.

Turks head sailor bracelet in natural and blue #102

Here's another mix of the "natural" cotton and a center strand of cord dyed blue. The cable cord gives the piece a classic look of "rope" as the twisted construction of the cord recalls the lay of traditionally made manilla rope.

The mix of color makes this a fun variation on the single color designs. All cotton materials are worked up to an even shape and ends are stitched and trimmed.
