Kid stuff - three styles made especially for children 1292

A Michigan mom wanted some gifts for her kids and requested three very different designs all made extra small to fit over tiny hands.
Upper left is a black multi strand cord bracelet with red beads similar to this item in the Etsy shop. A wilder version of this design can be seen here.
On the right is a grey and white turks head knot bracelet which is a replica of this adult sized bracelet also available in wider designs like this one or in a medium width design.
In the center is a square knot macrame bracelet with a green glass bead very similar to this one. Other slip-on style macrame bracelets can be seen here on the blog or visit the square knot bracelets section of the Zibbet shop.

birthday party!

Rope bracelets make great party favors. Here's a collection that was made for an upcoming birthday. The guests will receive either a blue, green or blended color bracelet, the purple one is reserved for the birthday child.

The materials are hand dyed 3 mm cotton cord. The weave pattern is a double diamond made in a smaller size for teenagers. These are adjustable as well so the recipients can make them fit the way they want.

This is a group of medium size bracelets made with both blue and green cords. These can be worked up to fit as well. There are of course two extra loose ends!

If you would like more information about how to get a party package for your next event please visit the children's section in the Zibbet shop to see some possibilities. Many other color and size combinations can be made by request.

a little green and grey one for the little ones 1163

Here's a fun little (kid sized) bracelet made from the short ends of cord bundles that have been used to make larger bracelets. This one is a mere 5 1/2" (140 mm) inside circumference perfect for a child or 'tween. 100% cotton cord is hand dyed in small batches. The colors are copper green and grey. The ends have been stitched to keep it from falling apart with the kind of heavy use that kids put everything through!
Find a collection of children's sized rope bracelets on Zibbet. While I try to keep a variety of colors and sizes it is possible that you may not find exactly what you want. I am happy to take custom requests and my prices are the same for the custom work as they are for the in-stock items.

You may also be interested in this turquoise herringbone rope bracelet which is available in smaller sizes as well.

custom work for kids 816

Every now and then I receive a request for a custom piece for a younger person. I like making these for kids as it continues the tradition of having something cool and special that is yours alone.

This is a special request for someone who was passionate about purple but needed a smaller size than was offered in the online shop.

I had a bit of the purple cord remaining from the original dye batch which was long enough to make this 12 x 5 x 3 double diamond design.

So don't be shy about asking for a child sized version of work that is listed in the online shops. Most of the pieces offered can be made in smaller sizes that will fit younger kids as well as tweens.

Measure according to this guide then visit any one of these online shops to look over the selections, and contact me if you would like a special order made to fit a special child.

delicate designs made with small material

A herringbone weave design using 1.5 mm high density nylon cord.

This is a 34 bight design but due to the small diameter of the material it measures only 6 1/4" inside circumference, about the right size for a child or young teen.

This type of high tech nylon cord was found at an Eastern Mountain Sports EMS shop. Many outdoor gear suppliers offer these types of high grade nylon cords in all kinds of color combinations. This one happens to be a classic red/black mix

See this and a number of other unique patterns and color combinations at these three online venues:

Here we see a typical three part common turks head weave using the 1.5 mm high density nylon cord. This one is a bit larger measuring 7" inside diameter and available here:

The flat or common weave is clearly visible in this view.

These smaller materials create a much smaller scale weave pattern which goes well with smaller hands or for those who like a more refined look.

three sailor bracelets in copper green 702, 703, 704

A set of three classic turks head sailor bracelets made with hand dyed twisted cotton cord. The color is a copper green made by diluting the concentrated dye packet and limiting the time the cord remains immersed in the dye solution.

It's pretty amazing how much color range is available from a single colored dye packet. Even within the cord hank as it is immersed there are slight variations in color. Some areas take a bit more pigment, others less which creates a pleasing variation

The color will continue aging as the bracelet is worn. Repeated wettings can cause the color to fade even more giving the bracelet that "forever" look.

Sizing:
The small one is 14 bights, child or tween
The medium one is 17 bights, older teens and women
The large one is 20 bights, adult males and knuckle draggers (guys you know who you are...)

Each is made with three passes and worked to a firm shape. There remains some stretch in the material as the cord is naturally elastic.

These were photographed with the working ends in place although there isn't much slack to work out of the weave.

A note for the photography class: the background is actually a grey cardboard although the color in the photos appears to be light purple. White balance was set prior to the shoot with the light sources fully warmed up. (3600K CFL lamps)

something small 345

Something small made with the braided cover cotton cord. A 12 x 5 x 2 double diamond braid that can work as a child's bracelet or maybe a napkin ring?

Part of the BASIC series this is a mere 5 1/2" inside which makes it right for kids of adults with small hands.

Loose ends make this one easily adjustable.

Tiny tangerine for young fruit lovers

A tiny tangerine and white three strand bracelet. Just the right kind of fruit for someone small that enjoys bright things.

The side view showing the true colors. Well close to it anyway. Monitors and digital cameras conspire to create their own color schemes.

Size is adult "small" which is also child "large". Other sizes are available but you have to ask for them.

If you want this item in your size visit the Etsy shop and make a custom request. These can also be made in quantity for birthday parties at a reduced per-item price.
